Overview: The Nutley Navigator website is next up in my review of useful Nutley sites. This site is all about local Nutley businesses and the people who use them. The site is affiliated with the Nutley Journal newspaper.
Category / Topic: Local News and Social Networking
Here is their description:
Hello and welcome to Nutley Navigator, part of the MyTownNavigator.com network, where it’s all about keeping things very local and social. This website provides a unique blend of everything you need to get more out of our wonderful community. We’re a social networking site (kinda like Facebook or Myspace) that lets you create a profile page and connect with friends and family.
And, Nutley Navigator gives you and local businesses the opportunity to know and enjoy each other better than ever. So, sign in (it’s free!) and start making friends. You can share photos and videos, join a group (or start your own), keep up with local news and what’s happening in town, enter contests, voice your opinion, find great deals from merchants, restaurants and businesses in the local area…and so much more.
Best Parts
I like how people and businesses can post their own events, pictures and videos. This adds a nice “human” feel to the site.
Could Be Better
The navigation is a little jumpy and the pages are not laid out in the most logical manner.

I was sitting in the bleachers during the Nutley baseball game against Bloomfield high and started taking a bunch of pictures on my iPhone. I used Photoshop to merge the pictures into one panorama shot. The game was back in May and it was actually pretty interesting. Nutley tied the game in the bottom of the 7th inning on a botched steal of home. Then they went on to plate the winning run on the next batter.

Lead by department director Michael Cundari, Nutley High School’s music program has overcome budget cuts and helped instill confidence in its students.

Least year my wife and I stumbled onto Swing Night in down town Nutley and loved it. We were very excited to go this year. We invited our friends from Bloomfield to come down for some music, drinks, and junk food.
We got down there (Franklin Avenue, between Vreeland Ave. and High Street) at about 8:00. There was already a huge crowd and the festivities were in full “swing”. What a great time! There was live music at both ends of the street (none of it was swing music) and all the food and drinks that you could stand in between.
My friend and I had a few draft beers, while the girls had water. We all had some combination of pizza (Ralph’s), sausage sandwiches (Mudhole), and waffles and ice cream (Pancake Palace). The ice cream was definitely the high point. I have been on a diet lately, so I used all of my willpower to resist the zepoles.
High Point: Eating and drinking in the middle of Franklin Ave. Seeing every single citizen in town packed into a single block.
Low Point: At the stroke of 10:01, the Nutley Police, who were wonderful all night, turned into jack-booted thugs, chasing everybody off the streets on those ridiculous Segways.
Summing it up
I have only lived in Nutley for a few years, but it is events like this, the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and the July 4th celebration that make me feel like I’m at home. Another great job of making Nutley a fabulous place to live.
